Math:

The focus in Fourth Grade Math will be to reinforce competency in the four basic operations. We will use hands-on activities, games, and computer programs to help us master skills within the classroom. We will follow The National Common Core Standards and strengthen the following mathematical practices: make sense of problems and persevere in solving them, reason abstractly and quantitatively, construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others, model with mathematics, use appropriate tools strategically, attend to precision, look for and make use of a structure, and look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.

ELA:

We will explore a variety of writing genres including informational writing, fictional narratives, and persuasive writing. We will learn and practice important language skills, such as parts of speech and punctuation. Through author studies we will learn trade secrets from those who love to write, and practice skills needed to be a successful and memorable writer.
