Student Services

Special Education:

Holderness Central School offers individualized programs and services to students with special needs. Individualized Education Plans are prepared with the involvement of parents/guardians who are regarded as full partners in the educational process. Emphasis is placed on maximizing academic progress in basic skill areas and in developing compensatory skills.  Speech-language services, occupational therapy, and physical therapy are also available to eligible students.  If you have any concerns about your child's learning, please reach out to the special educator in your child's corresponding grade level.

Intervention:

Holderness Central School’s schedule is built around the RTI model. The intervention team reviews data monthly from national normed assessments, class work and input from the classroom teacher to determine how best to support each child’s individual needs. “Hawk Time” is built into each grade levels schedule to provide an opportunity for teachers to target specific skills students need more time to master. The intervention team and classroom teachers review data monthly to determine if small group interventions are effective and also develop new interventions as the school year progresses. “Hawk Time” is also used to provide enrichment for students that are on or above grade level and who require a more challenging academic experience.

Speech-Language Pathology

As a speech-language pathologist, I work with students in a variety of areas that impact communication.  These areas include articulation, fluency (stuttering), receptive and expressive language, social language, reading, and writing.

Outside of school I enjoy traveling, reading, boating, skiing, and spending time on the river with family and friends.

If you have any concerns about your child's speech and/or language acquisition, don't hesitate to reach out!
